Parents behaving badly at youth games will never end, and we now have our latest incident of it.
A soccer game was scheduled for Monday night between Union High School and Ridgeview High School. It would soon be erupted by a massive fight in the stands involving parents.
Apparently, racial slurs were being thrown around by the parents of the opposing team, and soon bad words would turn into violence.
Dickenson County Public Schools Superintendent Haydee Robinson released a statement on this disturbing situation.
“We are aware of the incident that occurred between a small group of spectators at last night’s Union vs. Ridgeview boys soccer match,” Robinson told News 5. “Dickenson County Public Schools does not condone this type of behavior by fans. Sportsmanship is of the utmost importance at all sporting events and this type of behavior is unacceptable. We would like to remind all fans and spectators to honor the hard work of our student-athletes and to conduct themselves appropriately at all time. Our fans serve as role models for our students.”
The sheriff said the altercation involved multiple people and several have reported injuries.

One person, Donald Guerrant, was charged with assault and battery for his role in this fight.
The sheriff’s office is working with the Commonwealth Attorney’s office on if further charges are needed.
Unfortunately, this is not the first and will not be the last time we talk about parents fighting during youth games when they are supposed to be setting a good example for them and their future.
The people who allegedly threw around racial slurs are not exempt because who knows what they things they are teaching their children and have them thinking towards other races.
