Inter Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman had to be hospitalized after suffering a nasty spider bite at a zoo, his wife announced.
Per TMZ Sports, Marsman’s wife Nathalie Den Dekker revealed in a series of Instagram posts that the MLS goaltender had to be hospitalized for three days after a poisonous spider (the type of spider) wasn’t revealed) bit him at an undisclosed zoo.
Marsman has since been discharged. In one of her posts, den Dekker wrote, “”Happy to have you back home. Now get well soon.”
The Australian funnel-web spider is often regarded as the most venomous spider on the planet, but there are antivenoms and other treatments to combat it. Regardless of which spider bit Marsman, and no matter how quickly he received treatment, some can definitely offer a strong bite that will hurt for several days.
The 32-year-old Marsman signed a deal with Inter Miami back in 2021. The club enters play this weekend with the third-worst record in the league, as well as the worst in the Eastern Conference at 5-0-12.
But help will be on the way in the not-so-distant future. Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest soccer player to ever live, signed a lucrative deal with Inter Miami earlier this month. The hope is that he’ll be able to debut for the club at some point next month.
