The soccer world is waiting on pins in needles after the legendary Lionel Messi had to be taken out of a game after being injured.
The MLS player for Inter Miami in Florida returned to the pitch tonight for the first time in nearly two weeks, but was forced off the field after he got injured.
He was subbed off during the first half for an unknown injury.
Messi, the Argentine World Cup champion and seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, was in the starting lineup for Inter Miami’s game against Toronto FC at DRV PNK Stadium.
Before tonight, Messi had not played since September 7th. At that time, he scored a free kick to lead Argentina to a 1-0 victory over Ecuador in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match in Buenos Aires.
The match marked his 12th in 48 days.
