After fielding accusations over the World Cup being scripted in his favor, new Inter Miami star Lionel Messi is being told by fans that the “MLS is rigged” after only his first game.
The players considered to be the best of the current era decided to leave Europe this year, with Cristiano Ronaldo heading to Saudi Arabia while Messi opted to join David Beckham’s team in America.
This is a huge marketing win for Major League Soccer as several million fans have added the league to their to-watch lists.
Messi’s debut against Mexican outfit Cruz Azul brought the stars out, with the likes of LeBron James, Tom Brady, Serena Williams, and Kim Kardashian all in attendance.
The Argentinian did not play in the first half, however, he was a second-half substitute, coming on in the 52nd minute. The game appeared to be headed for a 1-1 draw but the World Cup winner was fouled in the 91st minute and went on to win it with a sublime free kick from around 25 meters out.
Some fans are of the view that he flopped and were upset to see him score in the final minutes, taking to social media with claims that the league is rigged.

It appears Messi won’t be able to shake this off until he retires.
