Ana Maria Markovic has been dubbed the ‘world’s most beautiful footballer,’ and we do not disagree with the label at all.
The Croatian player has turned many heads during her career – and not just for her moves with the ball. German outlet 20min interviewed the 22-year-old forward, who plays for Swiss Women’s Super League club Grasshopper and the Croatia national team. During the interview she was asked about a recent piece that called her a ‘blonde bombshell.’
“I liked the articles that called me the most beautiful footballer or one of the most beautiful because it makes me happy to hear that I am beautiful,” she replied.
“But then newspaper articles appeared in which I was described as the sexiest footballer. I didn’t like that. Also because of my family. I think you have to be careful what you write about people. Especially if you have ones that do not know. But overall it wasn’t that bad.”
She would go on to add that she has received unwanted attention from men following the story. Markovic has even been contacted by people pretending to want to represent her as an agent.
She added: “After that, a lot of people wrote to me pretending to be managers, and I know exactly what they want from me.
“They’ve never seen me play football and only look at the outside. I find that a great pity. I think such people should find out more beforehand and see what I can do in terms of football.
“Many have also made me feel like I’m pretty and that just because of that you could make something out of me on social media and that they want to make money with it.”

She also spoke on the disgusting men who think it’s OK to send images of their genitals to her without consent. “There are a few pictures like that, it’s really ugly.
“I don’t know why a person does something like that, but I just make fun of it with my colleagues. Sometimes funny messages come from people who write that they want to serve me and, for example, want to clean the cams of my soccer shoes after training.”
