The Lake George High School soccer team was riding an impressive undefeated season until they came across the Voorheesville Blackbirds on November 2nd and suffered their first loss of the season.
After the game, coach Blake White wanted to raise his team’s morale, so he took the students to Hooters, according to the Times-Union.
That decision has sparked some major controversy towards the head coach.
“The post-game dinner at the Colonie restaurant has forced Lake George school superintendent and the board of education to take, as they put it, “action.”
“It’s been taken seriously and we addressed it,” Superintendent of Schools Lynne Rutnik said. “Other than that, I can’t comment on personnel issues.”
Rutnik added that she doesn’t want to take away from the team’s accomplishments, but “as a female superintendent I took this very seriously and addressed it immediately with the students and the individual.”
She would not say if White will continue to coach.”
White has been a teacher in the district for more than 30 years and has been the district’s longtime soccer coach and last year took over as its boys basketball coach.
