Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Aminata Diallo has been taken into police custody for her alleged part in a violent attack on teammate Kheira Hamraoui.
The midfield star is accused of attempting to eliminate competition by having a pair of masked men drag her out of her car while punching her and hitting her legs. According to L’Equipe, the attack occurred following a team meeting last Thursday. Diallo allegedly wanted to stop Hamraoui from competing with her for playing time.
Injuries to her hands and legs resulted in Hamraoui being rushed to Poissy hospital, and meant she was subsequently ruled out of a 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League this week.
A club statement read: “Paris Saint-Germain acknowledges that Aminata Diallo was remanded in police custody this morning by the Versailles SRPJ as part of the proceedings initiated following an assault last Thursday evening against the club’s players.
“Paris Saint-Germain condemns in the strongest possible terms the violence committed. Since the evening of Thursday, Nov. 4, the club has taken all the necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being and safety of its players.

This entire situation makes us think of Tony Harding, who in 1994 had an assailant strick Nancy Kerrigan on her landing knee with a police baton. The attacker was later revealed to have been hired by the ex-husband of Olympic rival Tonya Harding.
Kerrigan would recover and won silver at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
