Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his family are counting their blessings that they are alive after what they went through.
According to ESPN, the FC Barcelona striker and his wife were targeted by a gang who came wielding iron bars at their home in Castelldefels on the outskirts of Barcelona, Spain.
The report says Aubameyang and his wife were handcuffed and tied up while they were being robbed. His two children may have been there two but that detail remains unclear. The soccer star was forced to open a safe that contained jewelry and other expensive items.
Aubameyang was also reportedly beaten in the incident. Barcelona said Aubameyang and his wife were OK following the robbery.
The 33-year-old had just returned home from Barca’s 4-0 win against Real Valladolid on Sunday.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the Bundesliga’s top scorer in the 2016-17 season, scoring 31 goals that year. In 213 total games for Dortmund, Aubameyang scored 141 goals.
