A Premier League game between English sides Bournemouth and Luton Town had to be suspended after Luton captain Tom Lockyer collapsed on the pitch in the second half.
The defender was rushed to hospital, having gone into cardiac arrest, much to the horror of players and fans.
Fortunately, the Hatters have since revealed that the player is in stable condition.
“Our medical staff have confirmed that the Hatters captain suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch, but was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher,” the club told fans in a statement on X. “He received further treatment inside the stadium, for which we once again thank the medical teams from both sides.
“Tom was transferred to hospital, where we can reassure supporters that he is stable and currently undergoing further tests with his family at his bedside.”
Scores were locked at 1-1 in the 59th minute when Lockyer dropped to the pitch with no one near him. Luton manager Rob Edwards reacted quickly as he immediately summoned medical personnel.

The players left the pitch six minutes later, with the fixture being abandoned as they were understandably unable to continue.
Lockyer, 29, collapsed during Luton’s playoff final win against Coventry City on May 27 and spent five days in hospital, during which he underwent surgery to fix an atrial fibrillation.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
