It’s been more than 20 years since Brandi Chastain ripped off her jersey and celebrated at the World Cup and she finds her name trending this week.
Chloe Kelly scored a decisive goal in the EURO Women final against Germany on Sunday and to celebrate, she decided to rip off her shirt and go crazy on the field.
She scored the go-ahead goal in extra time to lift England to a UEFA European Championship over Germany 2-1.
Chastain’s celebration came about after giving the U.S. a victory over China in the 1999 Women’s World Cup.
It’s England’s first win at a major tournament. The team had finished as runners-up in the Euro in 1984 and 2009 and took third place at the World Cup in 2015.
