Fans are offering prayers and support while showing concern following some worrying news pertaining to one of the best soccer goalkeepers to ever play the game.
It’s been revealed that Edwin van der Sar, the legendary stopper who suited up for Manchester United, Ajax, and his native Holland, has been hospitalized in Croatia after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
Van der Sar, who was under intensive care at the time of writing, was on holiday at the time and was swiftly taken to a medical facility via chopper this Friday after he showed signs of a major problem.
“On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain,” Ajax noted in a statement. “He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition. Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow. Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery. We’re thinking of you.”

The 53-year-old is quite decorated, having won the Champions League with both Man Utd and Ajax, lifting it twice with the English club. He also won four Premier League titles with the Red Devils, as well as four Eredivisie titles with Ajax.
He was part of the Netherlands team that reached the World Cup semifinal in 1998.
Edwin retired in 2011 and would take up the role of Ajax CEO thereafter before stepping down earlier this year.
