Megan Rapinoe was very outspoken throughout the 2019 Women’s World Cup about politics and it only continued after the women brought home their second-straight World Cup. Her willingness to speak out had many wondering if the United States women’s national team star has a future in the politics.
The 34-year-old soccer star hasn’t officially addressed her post-career plans, but if she does want to venture in the world of politics, she has a potential job waiting for her.
Long-shot candidate for the 2020 presidency, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D), recently announced his plans on offering Rapinoe the secretary of state position in his cabinet.
“My first act will be to ask Megan Rapinoe to be my secretary of state,” he said. “I haven’t asked her yet so this could be a surprise to her.”
“I actually believe this because what I think what she has said that has inspired us so much is such an antithesis of the president’s foreign policies,” he added, per The Hill.
The likelihood of Inslee winning is not very likely, but I’m sure Rapinoe appreciates the gesture.
