The Team USA artistic swimming team is going viral after they performed a routine inspired by Michael Jackson’s moonwalk dance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Team USA wowed audiences with their opening performance, where the members decided to show significant love to Michael Jackson by doing his famous moonwalk while in the water.
It might be one of the more unconventional Olympic sports, but artistic swimming, which was previously referred to as synchronized swimming, is making major headlines this week because of Team USA’s artistic swimming team.
During the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, the talented squad performed Michael Jackson’s iconic moonwalk dance upside down while floating underwater.
You read that correctly. They did so while holding their breaths, being upside down, and in sync.

The Team USA artistic swimming team also wore outfits inspired by the King of Pop and danced to his 1987 hit “Smooth Criminal,” which is from his seventh solo studio album, Bad.
As seen above, the team could be seen flipping underwater and coordinating their legs in a manner similar to the late pop icon’s during his moonwalk.
USA Artistic Swimming Team And China Currently Leading All After Two Rounds
The U.S. artistic swimming team was in the pool on Monday, knowing they would be going viral for their upcoming performance.
They put on quite a show, which included them moonwalking to Michael Jackson’s classic song, “Smooth Criminal.”
As of now, China and the United States are the top leaders in following the team-free routine in artistic swimming at the Paris Olympics.
China had 712.4455 points while the United States has 643.0255 points, per The AP.
The gold medal is on Wednesday, and the acrobatic routine is set to determine the winner.
