The Olympic’s 10,000m final produced a scary moment as medics were required after French runner Alessia Zarbo collapsed during the race.
Zarbo frighteningly fell to the ground on the home straight, with just a few laps left; the event continued while she lay motionless. The athlete was quickly attended to by medics and taken off the track on a stretcher.

Fortunately, Zarbo is recovering well, with French outlet RMC reporting as much after her fall. She did not take part in any interviews after the incident.
The 10,000m final was the scene of another bizarre moment as Eritrea’s Rahel Daniel simply walked off during the early stages of the race.

Alessia Zarbo’s Ordeal Prompts COVID-19 Questions
There have been no reports of Zarbo or Daniel having COVID-19, but the virus has spread across Olympic Village during the summer games.
American Noah Lyles is said to have run while infected, winning bronze in the men’s 200m final earlier this week. Multiple athletes and spectators have tested positive, but the organizers haven’t placed any restrictions, and athletes can compete if they want to.
The World Health Organization recently stated that at least 40 athletes have tested positive during the current games.
The virus isn’t as feared as it was just a few years ago, when it delayed the Tokyo Olympics by a year and prevented fans from attending. The Winter Games in Beijing prompted even tougher restrictions as China had a zero-tolerance policy.
