On Aug. 8, America beat Serbia in the semifinals of the men’s Olympic basketball tournament, which meant Nikola Jokic and Serbia had clinched the bronze medal.
Even though Serbia team leader Jokic racked up a double-double with 17 points, 11 assists, and five rebounds, he didn’t take the loss too seriously.
In fact, just two days later, during the medal ceremony after America beat France for the gold, Jokic showed up visibly intoxicated.
Obviously, with the Olympics being such a historic event, there were people who laughed at it and others who thought he was being extremely disrespectful.
“The serb way, im just sad we didnt bring trumpets with us,” one commenter said.

“I have a lot more respect for him now. Salute,” another said.
“Love seeing all other countries been happy and gracious unlike the unpatriotic usa basketball team…. usa is loosing all class in every aspect!” a third added.
On the flip side, “More like disrespectful,” one person said
No matter how you look at it, though, Jokic is certainly not your typical NBA or even basketball player and has always had his own way of dealing with stuff.
Nikola Jokic Leads Serbia To Third Ever Men’s Basketball Olympic Medal
Serbia has by no means ever been a juggernaut when it comes to Olympic basketball.
Yet in 2024, his third time competing in the Olympic Jokic, the six-time All-Star, two-time MVP, and NBA Finals Champion has led them to just their third-ever medal in the event.
He was also part of the team that won the country’s second silver medal in event history in 2016. Jokic has now left his mark on both the NBA and the Olympics.
While he is just 29 years old, there won’t be much stopping his ability to compete in the 2028 Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles.
