Fournier and his teammates attempted to block Schröder’s dunk attempt, which led to Schröder’s tumble. Then Schröder stood up, grabbed Fournier’s neck, and shoved him, which prompted Fournier to respond in kind. Before other players and referees interfered and separated them, they were about to get into a violent brawl. Later on, though, both players were observed having cordial conversations.
Fournier was ejected from the court after the altercation. However, the French team maintained their dominance by defeating the reigning FIBA World Cup champions, Germany, with a score of 90-66.

According to ESPN, during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 14.6 points, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in his 29 games for the Nets.
