Lindsey Vonn was the victim of a crash in Italy and suffered some bruises during downhill training for the World Cup on Thursday.
Vonn, an accomplished skier and one of the sport’s most celebrated, took a spill just before the end of the practice but escaped serious injury.
She was able to get up and ski to the finish area before entering a tent for treatment. Her team confirmed she didn’t break any bones, though one of her boots got destroyed.
The 40-year-old told the Associated Press she was okay, although her butt was sore, revealing she planned to race this weekend.
“I’m good,” she said. “I just caught a lot of air off the second-to-last jump and I just landed and my ski kind of caught funny.
“My bum is sore but otherwise I’m good.”
The protective airbag worn by downhill skiers inflated on impact and helped soften the fall.

“No problem. Titanium doesn´t break,” she said. “All in all, my titanium knee is holding up a lot better than I think anyone would have expected.”
Vonn finished fourth in a super-G in Austria last Sunday.
She had additional downhill training ahead of super-G races on Saturday and Sunday.
Vonn holds the record for the most wins in Cortina with 12. Said location is set to be the venue for next year’s Milan-Cortina Olympics.
