Simone Biles is undoubtedly one of the greatest gymnasts of our generation. After her historic showing at the 2024 Paris events, she could also be considered one of the best Olympians of our generation.
Biles returned to the 2024 Paris Olympics following a few years from the sport due to a case of the “twisties,” a sometimes dangerous phenomenon where a gymnast does not know where they are in the air, leading to potentially hazardous landings.
She headed straight towards the Olympic games, and there was no stopping the 27-year-old athlete as she took home four total medals from Paris. Biles came home after winning three gold medals, also complimented by silver.
However, after a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, it seems as though the famous Olympian may be retiring sooner than her fans think. Not only did Biles win four medals, but she was also named 2024’s Sportsperson of the Year.

“Life and death,” Biles told Sports Illustrated, adding, “Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”
“If you go back, you’ll be greedy. Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide. What sacrifices would be made if I go back now,” Biles continued before saying, “when you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?”

Biles got married in 2023 to current Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens. Since the end of the Paris Olympics, Biles has been attending many of his games. This comes months after he was granted permission to leave Bear training camp to support her.
While it remains up in the air whether or not she will retire, she has considered that it’s at home in the States, so eyes will be watching.
