Once he started playing, nothing could keep him from suiting up and taking the field at his high school, Christian Brothers College High School.

The Controversy
The adorable couple also had their fair share of controversies. In December 2023, Jonathan Owens was under fire for his comments, claiming he was “the catch” in his relationship with his wife Simone Biles.
In an interview on “The Pivot” podcast, Owens also revealed that he had no idea who Biles was before they matched on the app.
“She pops up and I’m like, ‘Let me see who this is’ … I had never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity,” Owens told hosts Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder”, Owens revealed.
“I always say the men are the catch,” he said during the interview.

His comments led to severe backlash on social media. However, Biles came out to support her husband and called out trolls for “disrespecting” her relationship.
Biles posted a story on Instagram in May 2024 and addressed the controversy.
“I’m going to quickly address this, the joke was never a joke! Y’all are blatantly being disrespectful to my relationship and my husband,” Biles’ stated in the post.
“If you keep commenting or tweeting at me I’m just going to block you. simple as that. And no I don’t need to touch grass or whatever tf y’all suggest…”, she further added.
Despite Owens’ comments and the resulting backlash, the couple still shares a loving relationship. His cheering for Biles at the Paris Olympics was a testament to their strong bond.
