Sha’Carri Richardson bombed out of the 100m event at the US championships in a shocking defeat when it looked as if she had finally started to turn the corner. Her hopes were ended at the national meet in Oregon after she labored to a fifth-placed finish in her heat.
Richardson got off to a rough start and never fully recovered as she missed out on a place in the semi-finals and ultimately, a spot in America’s 100m sprint team for the world championships.
Following the race, the 22-year-old had no interest in speaking with the media so she rushed right past them without saying a word.
As of now, Richardson can still qualify for worlds by finishing top three in the women’s 200 meters, which is a race she won in New York with a time of 22.38. However, this time around, the field will be much more competitive.
