Russian long jumper Darya Klishina recently sat down with Russian media to speak on numerous things that included about her life of training in the United States and the differences between her homeland and in the Land of the Free.
She also talked about being offered a huge sum of money every month just to be an escort in the States.
Via RT:
“Can you imagine? I was offered to provide escort services. It was less than six months ago. I was really shocked,” she admitted.
“An unknown man messaged me on Instagram. I’m not in the habit of being rude, but I adamantly rejected the offer.”
Of course, she turned it down.
“[I said] ‘Sorry, but I’m not interested in that.’ But he continued, ‘Oh please, don’t refuse it, you don’t know all the terms. I’m offering you a huge amount of money.’ He said I will earn $200,000 per month. I was just wondering do I really come across as an escort girl?”
Klishina then spoke on the differences of her living in the U.S.A as compared to Russia.
“Here everyone lives on credit,” she said. “In Russia, people take credit only when there is an urgent need for it. In America, credit is the norm. I don’t understand why I need a credit card. Why should I pay her at the store at least once a month and replenish with my debit. But if I don’t do it, I can’t buy a car, rent an apartment, buy a phone. Somewhere you have to play by their rules, even if you don’t like it.”

She was not a fan of New York City:
“These smells, especially in the summer, are just awful. I want to wear a mask. Compared to New York, Moscow is incredibly clean.”
“Have you met people with bad teeth in America?”
“– Hardly ever. It affects the quality of the water – it is very different from ours. From our water the teeth turn yellow, from this – no. I never whitened my teeth, because I know that I have my own natural enamel – thin, and it’s not worth whitening for my teeth. Plus, I have a good natural color, no problem. But she lived for two years in Florida, and all her friends began to ask: “Such teeth are white, what do you bleach them with?” And I didn’t bleach anything, just really different water from the tap flows.”
The 29-year-old star is a beast when it comes to winning medals, having won gold medals at the World Youth Championships, European Youth Olympics, European Junior Championships, European Indoor Championships (twice), European U23 Championships, Universiade, and most recently won a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships.
