French authorities have reportedly disrupted a plan to carry out an attack on the 2024 Olympic Games.
The event will kick off in Paris, France, next month, and sports fans worldwide are looking forward to it.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are looking into potential threats, as is customary, and it appears that they have managed to catch up to a potential terrorist as someone was arrested under suspicion in May.
That is according to French interior minister Gerald Darmanin, who revealed that an 18-year-old Russian male was planning to carry out an attack on Saint-Etienne’s Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium, which is set to host soccer games.
The man reportedly planned to “die and become a martyr,” with spectators and police among his intended targets.

“The man is accused of planning a “violent action” on behalf of the Islamic State group’s jihadist ideology, the national counterterrorism prosecutor’s office said in a statement Friday,” ESPN reports. “The man, who was not identified, is behind held in custody pending further investigation.”
