German track and field star Alica Schmidt, who has been dubbed the “world’s sexiest athlete,” is having quite the year.
The 25-year-old, who is set to compete at this summer’s Paris Olympics, shocked the world when she suddenly announced that she was in a relationship.
Over the weekend, the German track star qualified for the final in a time of 52.18 seconds, and once she crossed the finis line, she would make her way over to 27-year-old photographer Fredi Richter-Mendau as they shared a huge kiss.
It turns out that this is not a new relationship. German outlet Bild stated they have been together for around eight years. They are so close that Alica Schmidt reportedly moved to Potsdam, a city on the border of Berlin, so she could be near Richter-Mendau in 2017.
This would’ve not been common knowledge to her fans since Schmidt has never posted a photo of them together on her social media.

As for her career, Alica Schmidt came in third place in the 400-meter race with a time of 52.70.
After the finals, Schmidt admitted that she was happy with her performance this year: “This is the most important year of my career.
“That’s why I’m so happy that things are going so well now.
“At the highlight so far, I was able to show what I’m capable of, and of course, I hope it continues like this.”
Schmidt is an accomplished track athlete who previously helped the German team to a silver medal in the 4×400 relay at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships.
With her help, the team would finish in sixth place in the 2022 European Championships, per Wikipedia.
In 2021, she announced she was “taking a break” from the sport after failing to medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Alica Schmidt Qualifies For The 2024 Olympics
Alica Schmidt will continue her good year after she qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, three years after having a tough time in Tokyo.
The German track star, who was dubbed the “world’s sexiest athlete,” was on the team that qualified for the mixed 4×400-meter race at the World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24.
