With the conclusion of the exhibition games, the Paris 2024 Olympics are gearing up for their main events. This year’s opening ceremony promises to be truly unique. Scheduled for Friday, the festivities will unfold in an open-air parade along a 6km stretch of the River Seine.
The parade will conclude in front of the Trocadero, directly across from the Eiffel Tower. This marks the first time in Olympic history that the opening ceremony will take place outside a traditional stadium.
This unique approach has already garnered much attention. NBC Olympics president and executive producer Molly Solomon praised the innovative approach of the Paris 2024 organizers during an interview with USA TODAY Sports.
“When people ask, ‘What are you most excited about?’ It has to be the opening ceremonies because something like this has never been done before,” Solomon said.
