Olympics champion McKayla Maroney is giving a little insight for the girls on Day 2 of the United States gymnastics Olympic trials.
The former United States gymnastics star, who competed for Team USA during the 2012 Summer Olympics, shared her advice for this year’s gymnasts.
“My best advice is compete like you will never touch that floor again! Don’t let any nervousness hold you back, and go perform like you’ve trained. I know you’ve all have had incredible days in the gym, that no one but you, and your coach has seen!! Tonight is really the night to bring that energy, and confidence,” she wrote.
“Olympic Trials was my favorite competition of all time. I was in my favorite leotard, with USA sketched in crystals on my hip, in the best shape of my life, competing with the best gymnasts in the United States!! That’s you girl!!!!”
Maroney won a gold medal in the team competition and a silver medal in the vault in 2012.

Aside from gymnast career, McKayla Maroney has been very open about her struggles with mental health over the years. She shared her own personal ways of overcoming the negative energy and hoping her fans can incorporate into their own lives.
“In the worst part of my binge eating, or acne struggles when I felt terrible about myself, I’d still do these things to help myself leave the house. It does make a difference.
Even in sweats these things will level up how you feel about yourself I swear,” Maroney wrote.
She added, “We all have to find ways to feel ready to take on the world, and sometimes we have to go the extra mile for ourself to feel a little stronger.”
