Team USA demonstrated why they are considered the most successful team in international competition. With a star-studded roster including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry, the American men’s basketball team amazed everyone by winning their fifth straight gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, a former NBA player is still not pleased with Team USA’s success and roster. Nick Young, who was recently criticized by Gilbert Arenas, recently sparked controversy by criticizing Team USA’s roster selection.
In his recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Young provided several examples of players like Josh Hart and Tyler Herro for criticizing Team USA’s roster.
“The NBA would send a player like Josh Hart whose role on a team is to play defense b4 a player like Tyler Hero or Monk whose role on they team is to get buckets to the Olympics.. but play against them same type of bucket getters like Bogdanovic or Schröder we wouldn’t invite And they given us work and we barely beaten them.” Young wrote in his latest post on X.
During the 2024 Olympics, Team USA delivered outstanding performances. They achieved a 6-0 winning streak in the Olympics and a 5-0 winning streak in the pre-Olympic exhibition games. Nevertheless, Young held a different perspective on the team’s performance and remained unsatisfied.

Nick Young also discussed Anthony Edwards’s and Jayson Tatum’s performances at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The former NBA player said that although many people were criticizing Team USA’s coach, Steve Kerr, for tripping, Tatum and Edwards should be held accountable for their subpar performances.
“So instead of ppl saying Kerr was tripping they rather bash Tatum and and ant man my favorite but dnt move the goalpost for him and others players and make Tatum the fall guy ….. then push this weak ass narrative like Tatum and Brown both elites, one all NBA & the other finals mvp gotta take the backseat to a defensive player and that they basically dnt fit on the team .. coach K wasn’t playing T prince over melo or iggy over kd thats coaching.” Young wrote in his latest post on X.
