In a recent exhibition game against the Canadian men’s basketball team in Las Vegas, Nevada, Team USA delivered an impressive performance, securing an 86-75 victory. With the 2024 Paris Olympics just around the corner, teams are ramping up their training efforts to perform their best. The USA men’s basketball team, with its formidable roster, is a fan favorite. However, this Olympics may mark the final appearance for some Team USA players. LeBron James, who holds the all-time scoring record in the NBA, will celebrate his 40th birthday in December and has previously announced that these Olympics will be his last, as he will be unable to participate in the 2028 Olympics due to his age.
During a recent interview with Fadeaway World, King James was asked about his, Stephen Curry’s, and Kevin Durant’s responsibility to mentor the next generation of players for the next Olympics.
“Absolutely. It’s a responsibility you should hold and honor and give back to the younger generation because they got to keep it going when we’re done playing. It’s definitely a responsibility for me, KD, and Steph to show them the ropes, and they take it from where we (left it).” James said during the interview with Fadeaway World in Abu Dhabi.
LeBron James Opens Up About His Impactful Legacy
During an interview with Craig Melvin of TODAY, James discussed his legacy. The 39-year-old star player expressed that he serves as an inspiration to many individuals and stated that if his legacy is only limited to discussions about basketball, then he would consider his purpose to have been unsuccessful.
“I hope it’s not just talking about basketball. You know, for me, what I do in our community and the people that I inspire all over the world is what I want my — a lot of my legacy to be talked about… But if my legacy is only talking about the game of basketball, then I failed in my mission, so — we’ll see.” LeBron James said.
James recently signed a new contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and has no plans to retire soon. In the meantime, during Olympic preparation, King James opened up about the Lakers’ offseason moves.
