Team USA traveled to Lille on Wednesday after concluding their exhibition games, winning all of them. Given their star-studded roster with 12 NBA veterans, including LeBron James and Kevin Durant, this type of performance was expected from Team USA. But they struggled to grab a dominant win against Germany and South Sudan.
Kevin Durant has been sidelined since Team USA training camp in Las Vegas due to a calf strain. Durant could not play in any of Team USA’s exhibition games due to the injury. Team USA is set to rematch with Team Serbia on July 28 in the Paris Olympics.
Concern has already arisen regarding Durant’s potential appearance against Serbia. ESPN‘s Brian Windhorst fueled the concern, reporting that Durant is unlikely to play in the team’s opening game.
Nevertheless, the NBA star has provided a glimpse of hope while sharing his injury update.
“Each day is getting better. Another intense practice, and we’ll see how it feels,” Durant told reporters on Thursday.

“We will do some live stuff (Thursday), so the plan is for him to get in the scrimmage and see how he handles that. But yeah, he looked good (Wednesday), and he did everything and got a lot of shots up and told me he’s feeling pretty good,” Kerr said.
The Suns legend averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game last season while playing 75 games.
