Tom Craig, a member of the Australian Olympic hockey team, was arrested in Paris.
Australian field hockey player Tom Craig was arrested for an alleged attempt to buy cocaine from a 17-year-old amid the Summer Olympics in Paris.
The 28-year-old departed a team function Tuesday night, and some 15 minutes later, he would find himself arrested for allegedly buying one gram of cocaine from a street dealer, per the Herald Sun.
Tom Craig wasn’t slated to play anymore since Australia’s men’s hockey team run at the Paris Olympics ended Sunday with a 2-0 quarterfinal loss to the Netherlands.
The Paris police department released a statement saying officers “witnessed a cocaine transaction at the foot of a building in the 9th arrondissement” between a 17-year-old supplier and a 28-year-old buyer who “is said” to be a member of Australia’s field hockey team, per TMZ.
Many team members went out on the town after their elimination. According to the Herald Sun, they were told that they had 48 hours to leave the Olympic Village after their elimination, but they had the option to stay longer.
For Tom Craig, he was immediately apologetic for his actions.
