Australian breakdancer Rachel Gunn, better known as “Raygun,” has surprisingly apologized for the dance routine that made her one of the most talked-about performers at the recent 2024 Olympic Games.
Breakdancing debuted at the games this year but will not return in 2028. Raygun’s performance did not help matters in that regard.
The Aussie personality attracted considerable criticism over her performance, with many viewers suggesting she mocked the discipline with her awkward moves.
The 36-year-old apologized to the breakdancing community for any “backlash” she may have caused during a recent interview with ‘The Project.’
“It is really sad to hear those criticisms, and I am very sorry for the backlash that the community has experienced,” she added. “But I can’t control how people react.”
Raygun revealed having been the victim of intense hate in an Instagram video last month, admitting she felt devastated. She has also been accused of skirting the qualification rules to get into the Olympics, with various outlets claiming other deserving dancers were overlooked so she could make the trip.

Raygun Wants Australia To Do More For Breakdancing
During the interview, Rachel bemoaned the lack of resources and support breakers are afforded in her home country, especially when compared to other nations.
“Unfortunately, we just need some more resources in Australia for us to have a chance to be world champions,” she explained. “Historically, unfortunately, we haven’t had the best track record of winning world championships, so I don’t think that’s just on me.”
The now-popular breakdancer also defended herself against the qualification rumors, revealing she earned it after winning the WDSF Oceana Breaking Championships last October.
