Olympic breakdancer Dr. Rachael Gunn, known as Raygun, is making a huge new move in her life.
Rachael “Raygun” Gunn, who was mercilessly mocked for her breakdancing performance at the Paris Olympics, will never compete on the main stage again after she revealed on Wednesday that she will no longer take part in competitive dancing following the public backlash she received.
The 37-year-old, who received 0 points for her viral performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, was mercilessly mocked for her performance.
“I’m not going to compete anymore, no,” Raygun told Australian radio show 2DayFM, per CNN. “I was going to keep competing, for sure, but that seems really difficult for me to do now to approach a battle.”
Raygun was accused of intentionally scoring zero points for Australia at the Olympic Games. At the Paris Olympics, Raygun lost all three round-robin battles 18-0, 18-0, and 18-0 against the USA, France, and Lithuania.
She was also accused of manipulating the Olympic qualifier by setting up her own governing body and denying grants to other performers while allowing her husband to coach the national team.
In response, Australians set up a petition demanding an investigation and an apology.

“Rachel Gunn, who set up her own governing body for breakdancing, has manipulated the selection process to her own advantage,” the petition states. “Despite the clear talent and qualification of other outstanding female breakdancers like G Clef and Holy Molly, they were unfairly overlooked. The NT Youlong Boys, a group of incredibly talented and underprivileged youth from the Northern Territory, were denied crucial funding by Dr. Gunn to attend the qualifiers—a decision that directly impacted their chance to showcase their skills on a national stage.”
Rachael “Raygun” Gunn Previously Spoke On The Online Hate She Received After The Paris Games
Rachel “Raygun” Gunn has announced that she is retiring from competitive dancing. This follows the criticism she received after her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The 37-year-old received intense backlash after she received 0 points during all three of the round-robin rounds of the inaugural breakdancing competition at the August games.
“I’m not going to compete anymore, no,” Raygun said.
Back in August, Raygun spoke out about the online hate she’d received and the false allegations that she had manipulated the selection process for the 2024 Paris Games by electing herself to represent Australia.
“I didn’t realize that that would also open the door to so much hate, which has frankly been pretty devastating,” she said on Instagram. “While, I went out there and I had fun, I did take it very seriously.”
“I worked my butt off, preparing for the Olympics and I gave my all truly,” she continued. “I’m honored to have been a part of the Australian Olympic Team and to be part of breaking’s Olympic debut.”
