Anthony Davis was one of the stars for Team USA in their wins during their exhibition games. But surprisingly, he was snubbed from the team’s starting lineup against Team Serbia in the Paris Olympics on Sunday.
Many fans expressed their frustration with the decision. Fortunately, their voices were heard as Steve Kerr brought Davis in as a replacement for Joel Embiid less than three minutes into the game.
Both Davis and Embiid were fighting with illness before the opener. Embiid missed practice Saturday, and Davis also missed some practices. However, Kerr shared his optimism for both the players a day before the game.
“I’m confident we’ll have everybody ready tomorrow,” Kerr said.

Despite winning all their exhibition games, Anthony Davis cautioned against assuming an easy victory over Nikola Jokic’s Team Serbia ahead of the Paris Olympics opener. The Los Angeles Lakers star expressed his concerns about Team USA’s performance in the exhibition games, urging the need for improvement.
Davis highlighted the importance of addressing the team’s shortcomings to become true contenders for the gold medal this year.

“When that first game starts, it’s time to go and it counts for real. Our mistakes that we made have been corrected, talked about, watched in film. So now, we have to play almost perfect basketball, mistake-free basketball if we want to win a gold medal,” he said.
