In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, the famous gymnast Aly Raisman took to social media with a message to share.
After posting a nude photo of herself that had the words “Women do not have to be modest to be respected.”
“Happy International Women’s day,” she wrote.
“Reminder to take time for yourself today & everyday. I believe one of the best ways to make change is to start with ourselves. Let your light & love inspire others. To all the men out there: we need your help too! We can’t do this alone.
“Let’s all be kind to each other & recognize we are all human. Have empathy towards one another. I think we all know how it feels to struggle, right? Also let’s stop shaming women and girls for what they wear. PLEASE. A woman or girl is NEVER asking for it by what she is wearing or what time of night it is or how much she’s had to drink. A SEXY OUTFIT IS NOT AN INVITATION.”
Last week, the 25-year-old three-time Olympic gold medalist made headlines when she slammed USA Gymnastics’ proposed settlement to the survivors of Larry Nassar’s abuse and accused them of covering up who knew about the abuse and when they knew.
“It’s honestly offensive,” Raisman said. “It shows they don’t care. They’re just trying to push it under the rug and hoping people will forget about it when they watch the Olympics this summer.”

Raisman was one of many young girls who were sexually abused by Nassar.
