A sports medicine doctor has detailed Dylan Holloway’s injury during Tuesday evening’s St. Louis Blues-Tampa Bay Lightning game.
Play had to be stopped late in the first period of Tuesday’s game in St. Louis between the Blues and Lightning following Dylan Holloway’s medical scare. The Blues forward blocked a shot from Nick Paul that hit him in the neck, and he proceeded to skate around and continue playing before finally making his way to the bench.
Coaches and staffers assisted Holloway on the bench and got him to lie down before he was stretchered off the ice. Soon after, Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reported that Holloway as “okay” and breathing normally.
Sports medicine doctor Brian Sutterer analyzed Dylan Holloway’s injury during the terrifying ordeal. Dr. Sutterer doesn’t believe he was unconscious, noting there were no signs of chess compressions.
Dr. Sutterer doesn’t believe there’s any damage to Holloway’s cervical spine, noting that the puck hit him in the front side of his neck. He believes that the sternocleidomastoid muscle absorbed the blow, adding that there’s little concern about the airway.
