Hockey fans are losing their minds over a viral clip of Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid having an uncharacteristic and expletive-filled rant after the team’s loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Connor McDavid led the Oilers on an improbable run to the Stanley Cup Final last season after an ugly 3-9-1 start that resulted in the firing of head coach Jay Woodcroft. The team turned a corner under new bench boss Kris Knoblauch, McDavid and fellow superstar Leon Draisaitl as the three willed the Oilers to the franchise’s first Western Conference title and Cup appearance
The new Amazon Prime Video “Faceoff: Inside the NHL” was recently released and shows several prominent NHL players behind the scenes during the 2024 Stanley Cup Final. One of the episodes shows a fed-up McDavid calling out his players in an expletive message after they lost Game 2 of the finals to Florida.
The usually calm, relaxed and soft-spoken McDavid rips his team’s effort and challenges them to “dig in” before they fly back home for Games 3 and 4:
