NHL fans are in awe over the toughness of Edmonton Oilers star winger Zach Hyman, who returned to the ice in Monday’s game against the Florida Panthers after taking a slap shot to the face.
In the second period of the contest at Rogers Place, Zach Hyman was hit in the face on a blistering slap shot from teammate Evan Bouchard. Hyman immediately rushed to the bench to have his wounds treated:

Despite the painful injury, Hyman decided to return to the game after having his wounds treated. The 32-year-old came back to the bench in the third period with a visor for extra facial protection:

Zach Hyman’s toughness, resilience and determination was praised by hockey fans:

Hyman had two goals in a frustrating 6-5 loss for the Oilers against the defending champions. This was the first meeting between the powerhouses since Florida defeated them in Game 7 to win the Stanley Cup six months ago.

The red-hot Oilers were due for a loss after five straight wins, highlighted by 7-1 and 6-3 shellackings of the Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights. Still, blowing a two-goal lead and falling in regulation to the team that ended your Cup dreams a month ago can’t feel good for Zach Hyman and company.
