Pittsburgh Penguins superstar center Evgeni Malkin had his three Stanley Cup championship rings stolen in a home burglary over the weekend.
According to a report from KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Evgeni Malkin’s home in Sewickley Heights (a Pittsburgh suburb) was burglarized on the weekend. Among the items stolen: His 2009, 2016 and 2017 Stanley Cup championship rings.
Per the report, officials received a 911 call on Saturday evening after the Penguins played host to the Ottawa Senators:
“The Penguins say they’re working with local police as well as team security officials and that Malkin has requested his privacy during what the team called an ongoing investigation…
The alarm system and cameras at the home happened to be down at the time of the break-in and his safe had been kept open, sources say.”
Evgeni Malkin joins the long and unfortunate list of high-profile athletes who recently had their home burglarized and robbed of valuable possessions. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic also had their homes burglarized late last year.
Two weeks ago, the FBI issued a stern warning to athletes that their homes are being targeted by “organized theft groups.” The FBI stated that the thieves use Wi-Fi jammers and know how to bypass security systems (alarms, security cameras, etc.) to gain access into the homes.
Evgeni Malkin's house in Pittsburgh was reportedly robbed Saturday.

Evgeni Malkin Aims To Guide Penguins Back Into The Postseason
The Penguins have missed the postseason in consecutive years, after reaching it in 16 straight seasons (2007 to 2022) to begin Malkin’s Hall of Fame career.
With Malkin being activated off the injured reserve, the Penguins get a much-needed boost up front. They’re just four points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, though Pittsburgh has played two more games.
