The National Hockey League was just hours from the biggest series of the entire season when controversy kicked off and took everybody’s attention off the upcoming Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
That was because a video surfaced on social media showing Washington Capitals star Evgeny Kuznetsov seated near a table with two lines white powder that looks a lot like cocaine.
Russian professional hockey player has since denied that he was doing anything.
“I have never used drugs and I am not going to get involved in this. If I have questions, I am ready to undergo a medical examination at any time,” Kuznetzov told the Russian news outlet Sport-Express on Monday. “This video year. The 27-year-old won the bronze medal with Russia at the Hockey World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia just this past weekend. He led the Capitals in scoring in their run to the 2018 Stanley Cup, pouring in 12 goals in 21 playoff games.
