A Miami sports reporter has earned some plaudits for her handling of a rowdy fan during her coverage of the Stanley Cup fixture between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Florida Panthers on Monday night.
Samantha Rivera, who works for CBS Miami, was live on air following Vegas’ 7-2 win over the Panthers when a fan tried getting into her shot. He would end up getting surprised by a stiff arm from the female reporter, who was able to keep him away without breaking segue, keeping her mic in her other hand while still looking at the camera.
“Nope!” she said as the obnoxious spectator tried to get his 15 seconds of fame. “That’s the kind of fan you don’t want to be, right.”
The fan hasn’t been identified, mostly because Samantha was able to stave him off, impressively at that. But he was wearing a Golden Nights jersey.

Samantha addressed the moment on both Twitter and Instagram, implying she has a no-nonsense approach to her job and that fans should stay out of her way when she’s working.

“Panthers lost another rough one tonight but let this serve as a reminder to back the hell off when I’m working and respect that I’m doing my job,” she wrote as the caption to an IG post. “Excited to get back home to some classy #Panthers fans for game 3!!”
“Listen, I don’t give a damn what team you’re rooting for – get the hell out of my face when I’m working and respect that I’m here to do my job,” she added on Twitter.
The reporter would receive praise from her colleagues in the studio for her expert handling of the situation during the broadcast.
“Samantha standing her ground there,” one male anchor was heard saying.
“Absolutely, she could take to the ice,” a female voice agreed.
