Phil Esposito is being blasted for his actions during a playoff game this week.
Esposito is a former Canadian professional ice hockey center and coach. He is regarded as one of the greatest hockey players of all time, and his career achievements are nothing short of remarkable.
However, his resume won’t save him from what came out of his mouth when the Hockey Hall of Famer and one of the radio voices of the Tampa Bay Lightning described a Leafs fan who was talking trash to Tampa players near the penalty box.
“You’ve got a fat woman who’s yapping like crazy,” Esposito said as the player was being taken into the box. “Or is that a guy with long hair, I can’t tell,” he would go on to say.
Thursday was a bad night for the Tampa Bay Lightning, as they suffered a humiliating 7-2 defeat in Game 2 of their first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It remains unclear if Esposito will face any repercussions for his comment. At most, he should be required to release a public apology.

After retiring as a player, Esposito became a successful hockey commentator and has been inducted into several halls of fame, including the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Order of Canada.
Lightning fans will also be hoping for a different result in Saturday’s Game 3. Esposito will hope he doesn’t have diarrhea of the mouth while calling the game.
