New York Rangers winger Barclay Goodrow left Tuesday night’s game against the Ottawa Senators after sustaining an “upper-body injury,” and that is the nicest way of putting it.
Goodrow went to the locker room in the first period and did not return to the Rangers’ eventual 6-2 loss to the Senators on Tuesday after teammate K’Andre Miller smacked him right in the face with a puck.
Once the puck made contact, Goodrow slid on the ice holding his face.
Goodrow lost a tooth or two and spit it out on the ice.
The veteran center left the ice in obvious discomfort before the team announced he was out for at least the remainder of the game.
Head coach Peter Laviolette expressed sympathy, acknowledging the significance of Goodrow’s role on the team and wishing him a speedy recovery.

“Yeah that’s tough,” head coach Peter Laviolette said of losing Goodrow. “Listen, that happens. Certainly we don’t like to see that, he’s an important part of our team for a lot of different reasons.”
The Rangers are winners in six of their last seven contests and they lead second-place Carolina by 8 points.
It will start to become clear whether Goodrow will return to the lineup in time for his team’s visit to the rival Washington Capitals this Saturday.
