New and disturbing details regarding Colorado Avalanche star Valeri Nichushkin and the woman found in his Seattle hotel room have emerged amid rife speculation.
A woman was previously reported to have been found drunk in Nichushkin’s room, with a team doctor calling the police, who then had her transported to the hospital as she did look to be in any state to be left on her own.
According to The Seattle Times’ Geoff Baker, a 911 call for assistance in relation to the woman stated she had either gotten alcohol poisoning or had something foreign mixed into her drink.
“We suspect someone might have OD’d on alcohol potentially or something got mixed in a drink, we don’t know yet,” Baker reports, quoting the call.
The call is said to have been made shortly after 3:00 PM on April 22 while the Avalance were preparing to board their team bus before Game 3 of their first-round series against the Seattle Kraken.
Nichushkin, who was said to be away from the team due to personal reasons, did not play on the day or in the next four games that followed. The Colorado head coach insisted the 28-year-old’s absence wasn’t the result of any punishment.
