Boston Bruins forward Jakub Lauko posted a photo of the gnarly scars he suffered after accidentally being hit in the face by a skate on Tuesday night.
In the Bruins’ road game against Connor Bedard’s Chicago Blackhawks, Lauko was hit in the face by the skate blade of Blackhawks forward Jason Dickinson. Lauko was bleeding profusely, quickly left the ice and went to the dressing room to have the injury treated.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), Lauko posted a photo of the scars he suffered from the terrifying incident. Lauko joked that his modeling career may be in jeopardy, adding that he was also fortunate:
Lauko missed Thursday’s home game against the Anaheim Ducks, a 4-3 Boston loss that ended their undefeated streak to begin the year. The Bruins coughed up a two-goal lead in the final :155, with Mason McTavish scoring the game-winning in overtime.
The Bruins haven’t announced yet if Lauko will be in the lineup for Saturday evening’s home game against the Atlantic Division rival Detroit Red Wings.

Boston drafted the 23-year-old Lauko in the third round (77th overall) in 2018. He appeared in 23 games for the Presidents’ Trophy winners last season, tallying four goals and three assists. The Bruins lost their top two centers, captain Patrice Bergeron and David Krejčí, to retirement in the offseason. With those two gone, Lauko is expected to enjoy an increased role for the B’s this year.
