ESPN is set to launch a version of ‘NFL RedZone’ for the NHL.
The National Hockey League has been exploring ways to keep its fans entertained and attract new ones, having struggled to bring in fresh viewers while all other major leagues continue garnering support.
As a result, a show called ‘Frozen Frenzy’ is soon to debut on The Worldwide Leader in Sports. The show, which will be hosted by John Buccigross, will drop on October 24, when all 32 teams will be playing.
It promises to bring viewers “every powerplay, every hit, every goal, every highlight.”
“You will see every goal. You will see every power play. You will see every hit. We will just bounce around in what we’re calling Frozen Frenzy,” ESPN Coordinating Producer Linda Schulz notes.
The October 24 debut is more of a test run. However, fans can expect to see this type of broadcasting as long as the trial, featuring all 32 teams, is successful.

The NHL has been lagging behind the NFL and NBA in terms of viewership in recent years and is hoping to rub shoulders with said leagues again in the near future. How ‘Frozen Frenzy’ impacts the numbers remains to be seen, though it doesn’t seem like it could hurt.
