Last week, future Hall of Fame forward Jaromir Jagr returned to his former stomping grounds to see the Penguins raise his No. 68 jersey to the rafters.
Jagr arrived with friends and family in the city several days early and spent the night in a hotel. It wasn’t just any hotel.
Fairmont happens to be the preferred hotel of Canadian rapper Drake, who was in town for a concert.
He couldn’t get the rooms that he wanted and he was not happy about it.
According to The Athletic’s Josh Yohe, Drake was not happy to learn that the hotel’s best rooms had been reserved not for him, but for Jagr and the people he rolled with.
“I was told something similar over the weekend,” The Hockey News reporter Nick Horwat said. “Icon.”

Jaromir Jagr entered the NHL in 1990 as a colorful player with an overflowing amount of charisma and talent. He won five scoring championships and one Hart Trophy as league MVP during his 24-season NHL career.
He made an NHL comeback with the Flyers in 2011 and later played for the Stars, Bruins, Devils, Panthers, and Flames, last playing an NHL game for Calgary on Dec. 31, 2017.
