Corey Perry’s brief stint with the Blackhawks is coming to an end after he was traded there this offseason.
In recent days, the veteran winger’s status with the club has been shrouded in mystery as rumors circulated online the former Stanley Cup champion had sexual relations with the mother of Connor Bedard.
Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson wanted to make one thing abundantly clear as he appeared to hold back tears during a presser on Tuesday: There was zero truth to the internet rumors.
Davidson said the Perry situation “does not involve any player or their families, and anyone that suggests otherwise is wildly inaccurate and it’s frankly disgusting.”
The team placed Perry on waivers Tuesday for the purpose of terminating his contract.
The Blackhawks did offer a small bit of clarity in a team-issued statement announcing their decision.

“After an internal investigation, the Chicago Blackhawks have determined that Corey Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation of both the terms of his contract and the Blackhawks’ internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments,” the statement read.
“As such, Corey Perry has been placed on unconditional waivers. In the event Mr. Perry clears waivers, we intend to terminate his contract effective immediately.”
The news comes just days after Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said Perry would be away from the team for the “foreseeable future.”
Perry’s last game with Chicago was on Nov. 19th and then he was a healthy scratch on the 22nd and sat out again on the 24th.
The veteran will finish his Blackhawks career with four goals and nine points in 16 games with the franchise. The 38-year-old signed a one-year, $4-million contract with Chicago after being acquired in a trade from the Tampa Bay Lightning in June.
