Who needs a trip to the dentist when you’re a professional hockey player?
New York Islanders star forward Brock Nelson certainly won’t need to book an appointment, at least when it comes to teeth removal.
During Monday’s road game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nelson took a stick to the mouth from William Nylander. But rather than seek a professional’s help after the game, the 31-year-old Nelson took matters into his own hands.
As you can see in the clip below, Nelson simply decided to remove his own tooth casually while on the bench.
Nelson finished the game with one assist. The Maple Leafs cruised to a 5-2 victory over the slumping Islanders, who fell to 23-21-5 on the year. Through 49 games this season, Nelson has 17 goals and 42 points.
The Islanders will try to get back on track when they visit the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday evening. New York is three points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, though Sidney Crosby and company have three games in hand.
