Buffalo Bills players showed support for Damar Hamlin ahead of their win over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night, but the game seemed to have a mind of its own.
The Buffalo Bills safety has received an outpouring of support as he continues to fight through a worrying ordeal. And hockey is doing its part too.
Hamlin shockingly suffered a cardiac arrest during the first quarter of Monday night’s Week 17 clash between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. The game was subsequently called off, with the player needing CPR to get his heart working again.
The Sabres showed up to their game against the Capitals on Tuesday wearing shirts bearing the words “LOVE FOR 3” in what was a really nice gesture.
However, the real gesture came from the game itself in quite a freaky manner. Sabres center Tage Thompson scored three goals for his third hat trick of the season. The performance brought his goal tally to 30 for the campaign.

Even more amazingly, the game-winner was scored three minutes into the overtime. It’s worth noting that all of this took place on the third day of the year.
