The National Hockey League had no choice but to do exactly what the NBA was forced to do after a player, now 2, had tested positive for the coronavirus.
“The National Hockey League is aware of the NBA’s decision tonight to indefinitely suspend its season due to a player testing positive for the coronavirus. The NHL is continuing to consult with medical experts and is evaluating the options. We expect to have a further update tomorrow,” the league said in a statement Wednesday.
On Thursday, the league advised its teams to cancel morning skates, practices and meetings in the wake of coronavirus concerns and it was pretty much inevitable about what was coming.
Shortly after, the NHL finally announced that the 2020 season would indeed be suspended.
