The Colorado Avalanche provided an encouraging injury update on star forward Arturri Lehkonen, who was hospitalized after going head-first into the boards in Thursday’s home contest against the Seattle Kraken.
In a scary scene, Lehkonnen was injured in the second period while trying to retrieve a puck in a battle with Jamie Oleksiak. Lehkonen crashed head-first into the boards and was taken to the hospital.
The Avalanche announced during the game that Lehkonen was “alert, responsive and has full movement”. Lehkonen was taking to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
As of 3:00 p.m. EST, there was no further update on Lehkonen’s condition.
Lehkonen has three goals and five assists through his first 12 games this season. The 28-year-old is coming off a career year in which he tallied 21 goals and 51 assists in 64 games.

Colorado acquired Lehkonen from the Montreal Canadiens in a 2022 trade deadline deal. The 5-foot-11 forward played a monumental role in the Avs’ Stanley Cup championship-winning season, racking up 14 points in 20 playoff games.
The Avalanche thwarted a Tampa Bay Lightning three-peat by defeating the defending champs in six games to claim the franchise’s third Stanley Cup, as well as their first since 2001.
Colorado lost 4-3 at home to Seattle on Thursday, falling to 8-4-0 on the season. The Avs will try to rebound when they host the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.
